# Bartholin Gland Marsupialization

## About the Treatment

Marsupialization is a simple surgery for cysts and abscesses of the Bartholin gland. Instead of removing the gland, a small opening is made in the cyst and its edges are stitched to the skin, creating a permanent drainage channel. The contents drain, pain and swelling ease, and the risk of recurrence is lower than with simple drainage, while the gland's function is preserved. The procedure is performed under anesthesia and recovery is quick, with local care guided by the gynecologist. The indication is defined after an assessment.
