## About the Treatment

Perineoplasty is surgery that reconstructs the muscles and skin of the perineum — the area between the vagina and the anus. It is mainly indicated after vaginal deliveries involving lacerations or an episiotomy, when there is laxity, a widened vaginal opening, or scarring that causes pain or discomfort during intercourse. The procedure can serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, contributing to comfort and self-esteem. It is performed under anesthesia, in a suitable setting, and recovery involves local care and a period of rest guided by the gynecologist. The indication is determined after an individual evaluation.
