## About the Treatment

Lipedema is a disproportionate, painful buildup of fat in the legs, hips and, sometimes, arms, that doesn't respond to dieting and tends to worsen with hormonal changes. Often mistaken for obesity or lymphedema, it causes pain to the touch, a feeling of heaviness, easy bruising and limited activity. At Femi Saúde, Dr. Veruska S. Nunes leads a multimodal treatment that begins with evaluation and staging and combines compression, lymphatic drainage, guidance on low-impact exercise, anti-inflammatory nutritional adjustments, and technologies that target swelling and tissue. When surgery is indicated, the patient is referred for a specific evaluation. The goal is to reduce pain and swelling, slow progression, and restore comfort to everyday life.
