Anoscopy
An in-office exam of the anal canal
About the Treatment
Anoscopy is a quick exam performed right in the office, allowing the coloproctologist to directly visualize the anal canal and the final portion of the rectum. It is used to investigate bleeding during bowel movements, pain, itching, discharge or lumps in the anal area, and to monitor hemorrhoids, fissures and other changes. The exam uses a thin, lubricated, disposable anoscope and usually takes only a few minutes, with no need for bowel preparation or sedation. At Femi Saúde, the coloproctology team performs anoscopy with a clear explanation of each step, respecting the patient's time and comfort, and focusing on an accurate diagnosis that guides the most appropriate treatment for each case.
