Laser Cantoplasty (Ingrown Toenail)
In-office treatment for ingrown toenails
About the Treatment
Cantoplasty is the surgery indicated for an ingrown toenail (onychocryptosis) that keeps recurring or does not improve with initial care. Under local anesthesia, the portion of the nail digging into the skin is removed and the corresponding nail matrix is treated, so that side no longer grows in. At Femi Saúde, the procedure is performed with a CO₂ laser, which allows for greater precision, less bleeding and generally a more comfortable healing process than the conventional technique. It takes about 30 minutes, is performed in the office, and the patient goes home afterward with dressing and care instructions. Return to activities is usually quick, and the nail's natural appearance is preserved in most cases.
