Rubber Band Ligation for Hemorrhoids
Office-based treatment for internal hemorrhoids
About the Treatment
Rubber band ligation is one of the most widely used office treatments for grade I to III internal hemorrhoids, especially when bleeding or prolapse does not improve with clinical measures. Using the anoscope, the coloproctologist places a small rubber band around the base of the hemorrhoidal tissue, cutting off its blood flow; within a few days, the tissue dries up and falls off naturally. The procedure is performed in the office, with no cuts and no general anesthesia, and usually takes only a few minutes. At Femi Saúde, the coloproctology team evaluates each case during the anoscopy, determines how many sessions are needed and provides guidance for the recovery period, with close follow-up until the symptoms resolve.
