Hemorrhoidectomy
Surgery for advanced hemorrhoids
About the Treatment
Hemorrhoidectomy is the surgical removal of hemorrhoidal tissue, indicated for grade III and IV hemorrhoids, large mixed hemorrhoids, recurrent thrombosis, or when office-based treatments have not been enough. It is the treatment with the lowest long-term recurrence rate. Different techniques exist, such as conventional hemorrhoidectomy (open or closed) and stapled or energy-based techniques, and the choice depends on the type and grade of the hemorrhoids. The surgery is performed in a hospital setting, under anesthesia, generally with discharge on the same day or the next. At Femi Saúde, the coloproctology team plans the surgery individually, guides preparation and manages the post-operative period with attention to pain control and bowel function.
