Breast Cancer Risk Assessment
Family history and personalized screening
About the Treatment
Some women have a higher risk of developing breast cancer over their lifetime: cases in the family, especially in first-degree relatives or before age 50, known genetic mutations such as BRCA1 and BRCA2, previous biopsies with high-risk lesions, chest radiotherapy in youth, and very dense breasts. The risk assessment brings together personal and family history, estimates the risk using validated tools and, when indicated, refers the patient for genetic counseling and testing. Based on this, the breast specialist builds a personalized screening plan, which may include starting mammography earlier, annual MRI and more frequent consultations, as well as lifestyle guidance that helps reduce the risk.
