Electrocautery of Skin Lesions
Precise removal of benign lesions
About the Treatment
Electrocoagulation, also called electrocautery, uses a high-frequency electric current applied through a fine tip to remove benign skin lesions with great precision. It is used for warts, skin tags (the small bits of skin on the neck and underarms), seborrheic keratoses, sebaceous hyperplasia, small angiomas and other raised lesions. The procedure is done under local anesthesia, takes just a few minutes, and the treated area forms a thin scab that falls off within one to two weeks. At Femi Saúde, Dr. Ana Kappes examines each lesion with dermoscopy before removing it and, whenever there is any doubt about the nature of the lesion, sends the tissue for analysis, ensuring safety in addition to a good cosmetic result.
