Intralesional Injection
Corticosteroid injected directly into the lesion
About the Treatment
Intralesional injection involves applying a small amount of corticosteroid directly into the lesion with a fine needle to locally reduce inflammation and excess tissue. It is a well-established option for treating keloids and hypertrophic scars, alopecia areata, inflamed acne cysts, prurigo nodules, lichen simplex and resistant psoriasis plaques. Because it acts only at the site, it allows low doses and minimizes effects on the rest of the body. At Femi Saúde, Dr. Ana Kappes sets the concentration and interval of the injections according to the lesion and the response observed, reassessing at each session and combining other treatments when that can improve the outcome.
