About the Treatment

Bartholin gland excision (bartholinectomy) is the surgical removal of the Bartholin gland, located at the vaginal opening. It is mainly indicated for cysts or abscesses that keep coming back despite previous treatments, causing pain, swelling and discomfort when sitting, walking or during intercourse. With the CO₂ laser, the removal is more precise with less bleeding, supporting a more comfortable recovery. The procedure is performed under anesthesia, and the indication — including the choice between removing the gland and other techniques, such as marsupialization — is defined after a gynecological assessment.
