About the Treatment

HPV (human papillomavirus) is a very common infection, and some of its types, known as high-risk, are linked to cervical cancer. The HPV test detects the presence of the virus's genetic material in a sample collected from the cervix, similar to the Pap smear, and can be done together with it. It is an important screening tool: it helps identify who needs closer follow-up and helps define the intervals between exams. The collection is quick and performed during the gynecological consultation. The result is always interpreted by the gynecologist, who guides the next steps.
