## About the Treatment

Hysteroscopy is a minimally invasive procedure that involves inserting a hysteroscope — a thin tube with a camera at its tip — through the cervical canal to view the inside of the uterus. In its diagnostic form, it is used to investigate menstrual irregularities, abnormal bleeding and infertility, and to identify polyps, fibroids and adhesions. In its surgical form, it allows these conditions to be treated, often avoiding more invasive surgery. The process begins with an evaluation appointment, followed by scheduling the procedure in a hospital under general anesthesia. After recovering in the post-anesthesia care unit, the patient is discharged the same day. Recovery is uneventful, with mild cramping and minimal bleeding for a few days. The consultation is private, but the hospital admission can be covered by most health insurance plans.
